The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has encouraged members of the public to stay hydrated, and take necessary precaution against heat exposure.

SAWS also encouraged people to carry umbrellas and raincoats where showers and thundershowers are expected.

According Tokelo Chiloane, Senior Forecaster at the SAWS, said South Africa is in a Spring season, when weather conditions can change from day to day.

The seasonal forecast is influenced by El Niño developing patterns, characterised by below normal rainfall and above normal temperatures.

It is expected to be very hot over the Northern Cape, North West, Limpopo and the Lowveld of Mpumalanga, on Monday and Tuesday.

Similar conditions are expected to persist over central and western parts of the country, on Wednesday.
