A fourth fire this year, broke out at the Central Substation, in the inner city of Johannesburg, on Tuesday afternoon.
It burnt down the feederboard 4, triggering another electricity outage.
This comes just as electricity at most affected areas was being restored, from last month’s fire.
There is an outage in Marshalltown, parts of the Inner City, Wemmer, Selby and sections of Albert, Eloff, Commissioner and Anderson streets.
City Power said although the cause of the fire is unknown, recent incidents at that substation were linked to suspected theft and vandalism of electricity infrastructure.
Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) and City Power Protection personnel were on site on Tuesday.
Smoke and fire prevented technical teams from safely accessing the underground cable tunnel.
