The 27.4km Humansdorp–Hankey Road was reopened on Wednesday, following damage from floods, about 20 months ago.
Xolile Nqatha, MEC of the Eastern Cape’s Department of Transport, officiated the reopening.
Nqatha said the project is expected to improve road safety, facilitate the movement of agricultural produce from the Eastern Cape farming region to markets, as well as support local businesses and economic growth.
The construction phase also created employment opportunities for locals.
