Another fire broke out over the weekend, in Qolweni, Plettenberg Bay.
Andile Namntu, Spokesperson of Bitou Municipality, said 80 people were displaced as a result of the fire, when 62 dwellings burnt down.
Displaced residents are accommodated at the Bossiesgif Community Hall.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, with residents suspecting arson.
Namntu said in a statement “in collaboration with private entities and community partners, the Municipality will continue to ensure the provision of meals, hygiene items, and other dignity-preserving essentials to affected individuals.”
He also thanked emergency personnel, volunteers, and community members who responded to the fire promptly.
