The Council for Geoscience (CGS), confirmed an earthquake measured at 2,7 in Carletonville, on Friday.

The Council’s Mbuyiseni Ngcobo said the quake’s epicentre was located at Blyvooruitzicht, some 5km from the far west rand mining area, where the last seismic activity was recorded, on the 28th of April, this year.

Recordings were conducted by the South African National Seismograph Network (SANSN), who measure related wave activities throughout the country.

Ngcobo encouraged members of the public, to record their experiences, using an online questionnaire on the CGS website.
