The City of Tshwane announced a 24-hour shutdown of water supply to Soshanguve.
This follows a few interventions, the City said it implemented, over the weekend, including restricting the inflow into Soshanguve DD and outflow from Soshanguve L.
But despite all this, the system had not improved by Monday, the 22nd September 2025.
The City said in a statement, on Monday “ignoring water-saving practices, creates pressure on the system, leaving the City with no option, but to introduce strict restrictions.”
In addition, the City has urged residents to use water only for essential needs, repair leaks, and avoid watering gardens during he day, and not fill swimming pools or wash vehicles with hosepipes.
