City Power disconnected and confiscated about 15,000 kilograms (kg) of aerial bundle conductor (ABC) cables, estimated at R2.5 million, on Wednesday, 02 July 2025.
A joint effort made up of City Power’s Tactical Security Services and Gauteng Crime Prevention Wardens, targeted connections in the K206 area, from Mahauzana, Riverpark in Alexandra.
City Power’s Isaac Mangena, said in addition, the matter of illegal connections in the Mahauzana area, was escalated to the Gauteng Provincial Government’s Department of Human Settlements and Infrastructure.
“We will continue to work with the department to find a solution to this issue and ensure that the community has access to safe and reliable electricity.”
