The Cedeberg Municipality confirmed 121 people were evacuated from the Riverview Informal settlement to the town hall on Tuesday.
The river is still rising; forcing more evacuations.
The Municipality’s Anthony Vusumzi Mlata, said in addition, about 25-30 people were trapped on farm Seweoliene and Rooi Hoogte; due to rising waters and emergency services (EMS) and SAPS had to intervene.
Several roads are closed in Citrusdal and surrounding areas, including the Old Kaapse Weg, the MR542 (Jan Dissels – Clanwilliam).
Moreover, access to Algeria is closed due to flooded low-lying bridges. Similarly, Wupperthal areas are also inaccessible.
