There are numerous power outages across the country, due to storms.
The City of Cape Town said its electricity teams are attending to some 4,800 outstanding service requests, in Cape Town alone.
As a result, customers are urged not to log duplicate requests and to also avoid exposed electrical infrastructure.
Outages in the Nelson Mandela Bay, are due to a trip of a circuit breaker, at the Fitches Corner / Blue Horizon Bay Substation.
This has affected Blue Horizon Bay Village, FBH Overhead Line, Van Stadens Mouth and surrounding areas.
City Power said it started the day with 5,677 open calls across all Service Delivery Centres (SDCs), with the highest volumes recorded in Roodepoort (1,552), followed by Inner City (859), Lenasia (837), Reuven (747), Hursthill (655), Randburg (606), Alexandra (280), and Midrand (141).
Electricity supply was also hampered by storms in Pringle Bay, Betty’s Bay and Rooi-els, part of the Overstrand Municipality.
Eskom confirmed there are damaged network sections and poles.
The Municipality said necessary materials were arranged and repair work is scheduled to commence.
Eskom teams remain onsite to complete final line inspections and assessments.
