The South African Energy Development Institute (SANEDI) has launched a cleaner fossil fuels Programme.
According to a statement to media by the Institute, SANEDI has been working alongside a team of experts to draw up a Cleaner Fossil Fuels Roadmap. “This is because Fossil Fuels make up approximately 90% of our primary energy supply, we simply cannot turn away from this resource overnight.”
The Institute plans to use CCUS (Carbon capture, utilisation and storage), a modern technology, to significantly lower the greenhouse gases (GHGs) emitted per unit of energy produced from fossil fuels.
More will be shared by the Institute regarding this tongue- twister of a Programme, during the Energy Month campaign (May). “This is a perfect time to educate one another on the strides we’re taking towards advancing sustainable energy practices.”
