The main business hub of Newcastle is flooded.
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs confirmed this on Sunday.
As a result, Disaster Management teams have temporarily closed certain roads in affected areas including Ayliff Street, Kirkland, Scott and Bird, Patterson and Allen.
Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, MEC of Cooperative Governance in KZN, said Disaster Management teams were sent to the area, to assess the current damage.
Buthelezi also urged all residents in and around Newcastle to exercise extreme caution, especially when navigating roadways and to heed the instructions of emergency personnel.
