The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned against severe thunderstorms with excessive lightning, as well as strong and damaging winds, over the north-eastern parts of the Free State, north-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal and the eastern Highveld and escarpment of Mpumalanga.
Hail and heavy downpours are also expected to accompany this weather on Monday.
SAWS said these conditions might lead to localized flooding of susceptible roads and damage to infrastructure.
Strong wind and waves are also expected in areas between Cape Agulhas and Alexander Bay.
SAWS said there might be difficulty in navigation at sea, in these areas, for small vessels and personal watercrafts.
Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape, over the central and western parts of the Free State, in places over the North West, the northern and western parts of Gauteng and the Western Bushveld and Valley of Limpopo.
A heat wave characterized by high temperatures is expected to continue into Monday, over Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and over the central and eastern parts of both the North West and Free State.
