The townships of Dobsonville, Zondi and surrounds have had no water since Wednesday last week.
Johannesburg Water (JW) said on Monday, just as technicians were working on the burst pipe, they identified additional required modifications.
These will accommodate the connection between an asbestos cement pipe and a steel pipe.
JW said as a result, procured material will be delivered on Tuesday, the 16th of June 2026.
Once this is done, they are expected to communicate the date and time of the restoration of water.
Residents became restless on Friday, when water ran out on tankers.
Ayanda Mncube, a resident of Dobsonville, took to social media, “I don’t know how I will survive tomorrow, because I only have a jug left.”
She also said “we can’t cook with that truck water.”
Another Dudu Zulu, said the water tanker went around in the early hours of the morning, just after midnight.
