A resident took to social media requesting the Municipality, the police and Provincial Government to intervene in this weekend’s floods on the East Rand.

Severe flooding has caused extensive damage in Thembisa, Centurion area, around Hennops River and Sesmyl Spruit.

“We are appealing to City of Ekurhuleni & Minister Panyaza Lesufi & South African Police Service to dispatch emergency disaster services to assist residents hit hard by floods in Tembisa” said the resident who refused to be named.

As a result, fallen trees and rubble lie on damaged roads, the M18 near Red Barn and End Street.

Although there are reports of damaged homes, there is no confirmed figure as yet.

There was also flooding in Rabie and End Streets, in Centurion.

The City of Tshwane, said on its social media platforms, it is busy clearing street from debris caused by rain and removing logs from the Hennops river.
