The N12 near the R555 Ogies/Blackhill off-ramp in Mpumalanga, was temporarily closed briefly on Monday, following a significant fuel/diesel spill.
The spill came from a crash involving a fuel tanker, a log truck and cars, due to low-visibility fog.
Emergency crews contained the fires and cleaned up the fuel.
One person lost his life, in the accident.
Authorities urged motorists travelling from Emalahleni (Witbank) and Johannesburg, to use the N4 as an alternative route to bypass the Ogies section entirely.
