Strong winds in Johannesburg on Monday, blew roofs of some homes in Eldorado Park Ext 2.

Residents took to social media to share fears and shock as winds continued.

Gilda Swanepoel, a resident of Eldorado Park said ” I don’t think I’ve ever experienced this kind of wind in Joburg ever. Absolutely horrible and definitely not something we are used to.”

The wind continued to hustle through Soweto into Monday evening.
Rudzani Khomoa, a resident of Soweto, said via social media ” we are getting blown away by the wind in Soweto… “

Heavy rains forecast at Level 6 by the South African Weather Service (SAWS), led to the temporary closure of some roads.

Gqeberha
As of Tuesday morning, these roads are temporarily closed, Sithembiso Soyaya, Spokesperson of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, confirmed, at 6am, the Perverence crossing, Bethelsdorp Precinct- Leak on roof Drill hall, Bethelsdorp Road, Betram Road, Willow Dam – Manned by Metro Police, Rensburg Street ext.27
Kleinskool crossing, Standford Road Sasol and Jackson Street, Boysens Park Nooitgedacht, Kariega Durban Road – VW Manned by metro Police, Madina Street, Larl Roche and Allister Miller.

In addition, stormwater pipelids were uprooted due to water pressure, in Kwazakhele Precinct.
This affected several roads in the area, including Macusu Road, Daku, Spondo, Salamtu, Johnson and Koyana.

KZN

N2 north joining the N3 under the Spaghetti Junction is Flooded,
N2 northbound from Isipingo onramp, avoid the left lane as it is Flooded.
M4 from Bluff Flooded left 2 lanes before the Esplanade turnoff, usual area.
The left lane of the N2 Northbound near the Old Airport is flooded. Drive Carefully.
R102 caneland inter section right lane flooded.
Higginson Chatsworth flooded just before havenside traffic lights left 2 lanes blocked, durban bound.
N3 Eastbound, Brickfield Road (Malls Tiles)
Fast Lane and Middle Lane Flooded. Drive with caution.
Flooding at Umgeni road west bound at the n2 on and off ramp.
Flooding at St Johns Ave. Pinetown by M13.
