Jacob Mamabolo, the MEC for Gauteng Department of Cooperative Governance, Traditional Affairs and Infrastructure Development, led a site visit to Midrand on Monday.

Mamabolo was flanked by Johannesburg Water (JW) engineers, the DID A-Team, and representatives of Gauteng municipalities to assess water supply and distribution challenges in affected areas across the province.

This, as parts of Midrand continued to experience water hiccups.

JW said most reservoirs in the area are supplying fairly, while a few are critically low.

Errand reservoirs are still under pressure, while the Rabie Ridge, Randjesfontein, Development Bank reservoirs and towers have recovered.

Recovering reservoirs strained by high demand are the President Park reservoir and Tower, Grand Central, and Diepsloot.

Rand Water announced  it would ramp up awareness campaigns, such as “Water Wise” and  “Drop-by-Drop Water Conservation Workshops.”

“Water Wise” has already kicked off in Soweto and Alexandra townships and is heading to Emfuleni Local Municipality.

The two-day environmental activation will be held in Sebokeng Township.
