A lightning strike on Sunday evening sparked a wildfire on the mountain just west of Highland Lodge in Waboomskraal, in George.
The Municipality said the fire is currently burning on land managed by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE).
The Municipality also said it is preparing to dispatch aerial firefighting resources, including a helicopter to the site, before the fire spreads elsewhere.
