Major maintenance on the Solar Microgrid that supplies the Alexandra township, began on Saturday morning, the 24 May 2025, and is scheduled to continue until Monday, 26 May 2025.
City Power’s Isaac Mangena, said emergency maintenance follows a recent power outage that occurred a few weeks ago.
He said the electricity supply was rerouted temporarily to the power grid.
Power supply was fully restored to the area on Wednesday, 21 May 2025.
He also said maintenance work underway, will include the servicing of battery storage units, repairing inverters, and overall structural maintenance of the plant to ensure that there’s a long-term reliability and stability of the solar microgrid system.
“Due to the complex and technical nature of the work involved, the process will take few days to complete. However, we want to reassure residents that there will be no interruption to electricity supply during this time, as your area will continue to be powered by the main grid while maintenance is underway” he said.
