There were at least two big fires at Wolwedans and KwaNonqaba, in Mossel Bay, on Friday morning.
About 15 (fifteen) informal homes were destroyed in Zone 14 and four more in Barcelona, KwaNonqaba.
One person died.
The Municipality’s Directorate for Community Services said “through the rapid deployment of firefighting resources, including additional water and pumping capacity, crews were able to contain and extinguish both fires while limiting further damage and protecting surrounding properties.”
The Municipality also plans to assist affected residents through a coordinated partnership approach involving government departments and welfare organisations.
