Elsieskraal canal is flooding neighbouring properties in Goodwood, Cape Town.

Resident, Johan Toenie Visser, shared a video showing the extent of the water currently at the Goodwood College and properties closeby.

Residents at the corner of Townsend and Smart Street took to social media this afternoon to share their experiences.

Closeby in Bellville South, another resident (Dieter Fouche) said it’s pouring cats and dogs and also freezing.

Last week, Gift of the Givers, assisted 10, 000 people affected by the storms, in Khayelitsha, over the weekend.
About 1,100 informal houses, were affected by last week’s storms.

Moderate to heavy rain is forecast on the Western parts of the Western Cape, by the South African Weather Service (SAWS) from today until Friday.

Elsewhere in Stellenbosch, the Municipality, said it is closely watching the Wemmershoek Dam, which is currently 98% full.

In a statement, the Municipality said the dam is not currently overflowing, and water is being released in a controlled manner to minimize the effect of rising water levels downstream.
