There are fresh protests along the N12 corridor near Lenasia and Nana’s Farm.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) issued an urgent warning to motorists on Tuesday early morning.

This is despite disruptions on Monday.

The roads were cleared and reopened after rioting on Monday, but protesters have resumed barricading the roadway with burning tyres and debris, with reports of passing vehicles being stoned.

The JMPD said the N12 Freeway (Eastbound and Westbound) is closed with immediate effect between K43 (Klipspruit Valley Road) and Abubakar Asvat Drive.

Motorists are strongly warned not to approach the N12 between Klipspruit Valley Road and Abubakar Asvat Drive.

Alternative routes are R554 (Nirvana Drive), Golden Highway (R553), Impala Road (R558), Chris Hani Road and Main Road through Eldorado Park.
