Departments of Community Safety and Transport and Public Works in the North West Province, warned motorists that the N12 between Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp, near Stilfontein is flooded and submerged under water.

This, as more heavy rain is expected on the extreme East of the North West on Thursday, at Orange Level 5.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a warning against severe thunderstorms and heavy downpours in other provinces, including the Eastern parts of the Free State, Southern and Northern parts of Gauteng, extreme South-Western parts of Mpumalanga, extreme South-central parts of Limpopo, as well as over the Northern and North-Eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

Areas vulnerable to flooding are roads and bridges, infrastructure and agricultural.

Relatively lesser rain is expected along the Eastern Cape coast and the adjacent interior.
