A fire at a house in Carolina on Saturday morning, presented an opportunity for the Albert Luthuli Municipality to alert residents to remain vigilant and prioritise fire safety in and around their homes.
The Municipality’s Thapelo Phetla, said fire-related emergencies should be reported immediately to local fire and disaster services.
About 20 blankets, sponges and food, were gutted by the fire at Extension 1, Ngaka Landa, in Carolina.
No casualties were reported as a result of the incident and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Another house fire was reported at Ridge Road in Howick.
Emergency services (EMS) and Fire Suppression Units were dispatched to the fire.
Teams found the house already fully engulfed by flames.
Emergency personnel immediately began operations to contain and extinguish the blaze in order to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures.
No injuries were reported at that scene too.
The exact cause of the fire is also unknown.
