The University of South Africa’s Institute for Nanotechnology and Water Sustainability (iNanoWS) visited the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP) from Monday 27th January to Friday 31st January.

The team, made up of the Institute’s Director, Senior Researchers, Lecturers, PhD and Masters students, visited all the project sites of the LHWP on a educational tour, starting at the Head Office in Maseru, to Mohale, Katse, Polihali and ‘Muela throughout the week.

Speaking of the visit, Professor Thabo Nkambule, the Head of iNanoSW at Unisa, was impressed with the knowledge shared, environmental management, water quality, social development as well as infrastructure development of the project. The LHDA said the visit is an attempt to amplify contributions of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project in both countries; both in skills development and in project implementation.

“We are thankful to the University of South Africa for this visit; and we have taken a big step in mapping a deeper, long- term partnership with the institution going forward.”

The LHDA invites more institutions of higher learning to visit and partner with it.
