Some one hundred (100) households received sanitation facilities at Mimosa Township, in Mpumalanga.
There were another 500 beneficiaries at Victor Khanye Local Municipality.
The project was initiated by government in collaboration with Rand Water, to improve sanitation conditions within communities still using pit latrines systems.
The Department said in an update, the low-flush sanitation systems are fitted with a 500 -litre water storage tank and an integrated catchment system.
The system operates with a variable flush volume ranging from 1.5 to 6 litre per flush and is equipped with an emergency overflow that discharges to a french drain.
Pemmy Majodina, Minister of Water Affairs and Sanitation and her Deputy -David Mahlobo, along with other dignitaries handed over the systems.
Decentralised Water Supply Systems were also handed over to Brakfontein village and Savanna ward 7 in the municipality, by Tandi Mahambehlala – Deputy Minister of Human Settlements, Speed Mashilo -Acting Premier of Mpumalanga, Vusi Buda- Local Executive Mayor, as well as Thomas Ngwenya- Nkangala District Executive Mayor.
