Two of Johannesburg Water’s reservoirs are critically low, following a burst pipe at the Palmiet System.
Rand Water announced pumping would be reduced to 70%, since Thursday.
Affected systems are Alexander Park and South Hills Tower.
Other areas with no water due to a burst pipe are those supplied by the Linksfield reservoir, including Linksfield, Orange Grove, Dunhill, Fellside, Forbesdale, Cheltondale, Sandringham, Sydenham, Atholl, Norwood, Highlands North, Fairmount and surrounding areas.
The Ekurhuleni Municipality announced it placed water tankers to supply areas worst affected, as a result of lesser water intake from the Palmiet.
These areas are Germiston, Primrose, and Bedfordview.
Tankers are placed at Protea Rd (Bedfordview), Penhurst Ave (Essexwold), Corner St John Ave & St Christopher Rd (St Andrews), Corner Clarkson & Malan (Morninghill), Kennis St (Sizwe Secondary School), Klopperpark Clinic and at Virgin Active (Van Buuren Rd). The Municipality also said repairs on the damaged pipeline are expected to continue until Monday, 10 August.
Several reservoirs in Tshwane were also affected, including Alaska East and West, Garankuwa East, West and the Industrial area, Hospital Hill, Kruisfontein, Klipfontein, Klipgat, Mabopane Main, Magaliesberg/ Rossyln, Rama City, Soshanguve, Winterveld, Atteridgeville, Bakenkop, Brakfontein, Blair Atholl, Clifton, Klapperkop, Louewlardia, Rooihuiskraal, Thaba Tshwane, Florauna, Heights, Kosmodal, Mnandi, Pretoria West, Iscor, Loftus Gardens, Hercules East, Raslouw, Pierre van Ryneveld, Pretoriusrand, Cornwall Hill, The Reeds, Saulsville, Salvokop, Suiderberg, Wonderboom, Sunderland Ridge and Valhalla.
