The South African Wind Energy Association bid farewell to Niveshen Govender, its Chief Executive Officer.
Govender concluded four years of service at the association.
His team held an intimate industry gathering at the Radisson Hotel, at OR Tambo.
Among the well wishers, were his wife, the SAWEA team and Board leadership, standing committee leadership, representatives from member companies, industry colleagues and stakeholders.
Rethabile Melamu, SAPVIA’s CEO, alongside former and current SAPVIA chairpersons were also there to honour Niveshen’s contribution to the renewable energy landscape.
Stephen Koopman, Chairperson of SAWEA, said when Niveshen stepped into the CEO role, he arrived with a clear and uncompromising vision.
He also said he understood that South Africa’s energy transition wasn’t just about megawatts, it was about people, policy, and building an industry with staying power.
“Over his four year tenure, he carried that vision into every boardroom, every stakeholder engagement, and every difficult conversation. He led SAWEA through a critical chapter in South Africa’s decarbonisation journey, advocating for the wind sector with consistency, credibility, and a long-term lens” he said.
