The Limpopo Department of Education urged parents not to allow or force learners to attempt to cross flooded bridges or swollen rivers to reach school.

The Department suspended schooling in several districts, following floods, in Vhembe and Mopani.

There are reports of structural challenges at the Capricorn South and Waterberg districts, as well.

Schools are closed on Monday, until Tuesday, the 17 March, in all affected areas.

Mike Maringa, Communication Director of the Department, said in a statement, “the safety of learners and staff is a paramount concern. With reports of flooded roads and compromised building integrity, the suspension is a necessary measure to prevent any potential tragedies.”
