The Provincial Department of Education in Mpumalanga, advised parents and learners to prioritize safety at all times.
The Department also urged children returning to school on Wednesday, not to attempt to cross dangerous rivers, flooded bridges or unsafe roads, under any circumstances.
“Let us guide our children protect them, care, and ensure that every learner arrives to school and back home safely every day.”
Similarly, Limpopo’s Education Department announced that schools in the Vhembe and Mopani districts would remain closed this week due to flooding.
The Department also said recent floods disrupted the delivery of food and will also affect scholar transport for learners who reside far from schools.
