Smoke Grenades were found at Midmar Dam, in Howick, KwaZulu Natal (KZN).
The Midlands Emergency Services (EMS) Howick K9 Team, found them, after reports about them.
EMS said upon arrival at the scene, its teams assessed the situation and established that the items located in the dam were smoke grenades.
Then a team made up of the police in Howick, Search and Rescue personnel and the SAPS Explosives Unit, conducted an assessment of the items that had been located and attended to the scene.
The grenades were safely secured and removed by the SAPS Explosives Unit for further investigation and appropriate handling.
No further details regarding the origin of the items are available at this stage, this is while the police continue to investigate.
