Trucks were burnt down by unknown people on the roads of Mthatha, in the Eastern Cape, on Friday.

They were en route to make deliveries, when they were stopped and torched.

Speaking about the incident, Mkhanyiseli Dudumayo, Mayor of the King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality, said this incident “has serious implications to the customers who were expecting their goods and also on the economy of the area.”

He said he is concerned about the destruction of public infrastructure such as this attack on the economy and others, such as cable theft, the burning of electric poles and destruction of kiosks.
