Two were arrested in an ongoing Vala Umgodi Operation, on Saturday, 2 August 2025, at the Lamel Stone mine, in Mopani District, Limpopo.
Lieutenant Colonel Masekela Magoro, said “the operation was meticulously planned and executed based on actionable intelligence.”
Officers caught men red handed, while actively mining, at an illegal site. They confiscated several tools, including three shovels, three picks and two iron bars.
The suspects are due to appear in court soon, on charges related to illegal mining.
