Residents between Westville and Chatsworth are without water.

The eThekwini Municipality said this morning, this is due to maintenance work, underway, on a section of the Southern Aqueduct pipeline.

The Municipality reassured residents a team is undertaking emergency maintenance to remedy the challenge of reduced volumes from the Aqueduct into Inner West, Central and  South Region reservoirs caused by bursts, leaks and faulty valves.

The pipeline has been isolated to undertake emergency maintenance work.

Maintenance work is expected to be completed this evening by 10pm, but full water supply is expected to be restored in the next three days.

Affected areas are those fed by the Dawncliffe Reservoir, the Salisbury and Lea Dr Reservoirs, the Chatsworth 4 Reservoir, the Shallcross Reservoir: Buffels Bosch, Burlington Heights, Savanah Park and Shallcross, the Klaarwater Reservoir, the Washington Heights, the Intake Reservoir, the Birch Road Reservoir, the Harinager Reservoir, the Umlazi 1 & 1A reservoir, the Umlazi 2, 3 4, 5 & 6 reservoir, the Ensimbini 1 &2 reservoir and the Folweni 1 &2 reservoirs.
