Two suspects were arrested for poaching endangered plants in Olifantshoek, in the Northern Cape, yesterday.
The South African Police in Olifantshoek (SAPS B-Relief) found the two in possession of endangered plant species.
SAPS said in a statement “the police were conducting patrols when they spotted a suspicious looking Toyota Quantum. The taxi was stopped and searched, and police found a substantial amount of endangered plants stashed inside the vehicle.”
The male suspects, aged 37 and 45 years old, were charged for contravening the National Environmental Biodiversity Act 10/2004 and are set to appear in the Kathu Magistrates’ Court.
