Two members of the same family, a father and son, are among those arrested by the Hawks at the Crownwood Office Park, on Monday this week.

One accused was found with R100K in cash, while another had R70K.

This money is believed to have come from proceeds of illegal sale of gold.

Lieutenant-Colonel Lloyd Ramovha, said in a statement on Wednesday, that preliminary investigations revealed that the premises were operating as an unlicensed gold dealership, using expired permits.

He also said the police found significant quantities of gold and platinum ingots valued at R5 million and cash of about R5 million at Meyersdal Eco Estate and Theta Office.

The accused were to appear in court, on Wednesday, the 09th April, but the case was adjourned to Friday, the 11th April 2025.

Brigadier Phumeza Klaas, Acting Provincial Head of the Hawks, said “criminals must understand that no one is beyond the reach of the law…”
