An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 hit Croatia, on the 11th February 2025.

According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), another of a magnitude of about 5.2 occurred only 5 minutes later, 33 kilometers northeast of Zadar, Croatia.

The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10. km beneath the epicenter near Zadar, Croatia, early evening on Tuesday, February 11th, 2025, at 6:43 pm local time.

The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations.

The extent of the damage is not clear as yet.

Two days ago, Volcano Discovery, reported the occurrence of a light quake with a magnitude of 2.3  in the Adriatic Sea near Vis island in Croatia, late in the evening of Sunday, Feb 9, 2025 at 11.50 pm local time (GMT +1). The quake had a very shallow depth of 10 km (6 mi).

According to a live portal documenting global earthquakes – “Latest Earthquakes” a total of 502 earthquakes with a magnitude of four or above have struck within 300 km (186 mi) of Croatia in the past 10 years.
