About 78% of waste water treatment works in Limpopo, are in a critically dysfunctional state.

This is according to Sello Seitlholo, Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, during his recent visit to Mogalakwena Local Municipality, part of the Waterberg District.

Seitlholo was joined by Ngoako Thulani Taueatsoala -Mayor of the area and Dr Nndweleni Mphephu, Chairperson of Lepelle Northern Water Board.

They assessed the level of operation of Mokopane Wastewater Treatment Works, Old Masodi & Sekgakgapeng Oxidation Ponds, Masodi Wastewater Treatment Plant and Doorndraai Water Treatment Works.

Seitlholo concluded “Masodi is the only plant in Limpopo, operating to treat effluent to the required standard…”
