The City of Cape Town has urged residents to store up enough water, ahead of maintenance.
The City also said not all areas will have interrupted supply during maintenance.
Affected areas are where maintenance began on the 9 June 2025, and is expected to run for approximately five months. They include Hanover Park, Athlone, Rylands, Newfields, Pinati Estate, Belthorn Estate, Penlyn Estate and Belgravia.
The Athlone area’s system is under investigation, with a focus on the Belthorn and Crawford Estate suburbs. The City said water pressure disruptions can be expected from Monday, 21 to Friday, 25 July 2025.
The water supply to Thembokwezi in Khayelitsha, will be shut off temporarily from 08:00 until 18:00 on Tuesday, 22 July 2025. This will allow the maintenance team to conduct a tie-in of the newly installed pipeline in Morningstar Drive, to the existing water supply infrastructure.
Maintenance teams will also be doing a temporary shut-off of the water in Winchester Avenue from 09:00 until 18:00 on Thursday, 24 July 2025. Two new connections will be done to the existing water supply infrastructure.
As a result, residents in Winchester Avenue from Kirstenbosch Drive to Bishopscourt Drive and surrounds will have no water during this period.
Maintenance teams will also be doing a test shut-off of the 535mm diameter bulk reticulation water main in Turfhall Road from 09:00 until 16:00 on Thursday, 24 July 2025.
The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate said it would temporarily shut off supply in Sanderling Road, from 09:00 until 17:00 on Thursday, 24 July 2025, to install a new control valve on the supply network. Alternate water supply will be rerouted to Muizenberg and Vrygrond during this period.
