An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 struck Japan’s northeast region on Monday.
As a result, authorities issued a Tsunami warning and ordered residents to evacuate.
The quake was felt as far away as 79 kilometres east of Mitsui.
The Japan Meteorological Agency warned against a 3-meter tsunami that could affect
Hokkaido, Aomori, Iwate, Fukushima Prefecture and the Western Hakkaido Pacific Coast.
Environmentalists have raised concerns about the nuclear plant in Hokkaido, but meteorologists said there were no incidents reported there.
