Six people were killed by several avalanches in the French Alps on Saturday.
The avalanche actually occurred in the off-piste area of the Vallée Perdue (Lost Valley), in the Bellevarde slope.
The Val-d’Isère, in the Savoie region, confirmed two were found dead in that resort, while another two were buried under 2.5 meters of snow.
Another was reported dead at the Savoyard resort of Arêches-Beaufort.
Authorities have urged people to note the high avalanche danger warnings in effect.
Snow slabs suddenly raced downhill, injuring the victims.
Authorities also warned mountain climbers and hikers to stay on marked terrain.
