Five contractors were injured in the Durban city centre, when a building caved in, on Saturday.
The City said a structure at 107 Monty Naicker Street (formerly Pine Street), undergoing renovations, collapsed at around 11:00am, injuring five.
They injured contractors were transported to hospital for medical treatment.
One is in a serious condition and is receiving intensive medical care.
The City also said although investigations into the exact cause of the collapse are underway, preliminary findings indicate that the incident occurred during ongoing renovation work at a workshop facility, used as a parking area.
The City’s team found that the wall of the building gave way during construction work involving a jackhammer and sledgehammer.
