A culvert on the road between Pilanesberg International Airport and Mogwase (P53/1) collapsed.
The North West Department of Roads, also confirmed the collapse of the layerworks on the LHS lane.
As a result, motorists are urged to use alternative routes via R556 and R510 to Mogwase in the interim.
The Department strongly cautions the public against using the road illegally.
Last week, the North West Parks and Tourism Board (NWPTB), said heavy rains in the province, slowed the pace of road maintenance and rehabilitation.
This follows complaints from visitors that road conditions within the Pilanesberg Nature Reserve, are in a terrible state.
Jonathan Denga, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the NWPTB, said at the time “we understand the challenges experienced by reserve users, and appreciate the constructive contributions made by members of the public, who continue to engage with us in good faith.”
Denga also said his organisation is “committed to conservation protection, infrastructure maintenance and tourism development, fair community benefit and long-term sustainability through a response user-pay principle..”
