City of Cape Town 

Planned water supply maintenance began on Saturday in parts of the City, and are expected to continue until the 20 June 2026.

Residents in affected areas are encouraged to take note of scheduled maintenance work and store enough water in clean, sealed containers in advance.

Affected areas are Pinelands, Parts of Plattekloof 2, Protea Valley, Van Riebeeckshof and Door De Kraal, Saxenberg, Parts of Kommetjie, Parts of Lotus River, Parts of Retreat, Kuils River and Mabille Park.

Drakenstein

The Drakenstein Municipality plans to upgrade bulk water infrastructure in parts of New Orleans and Huguenot.

As a result, water supply will be affected temporarily from Wednesday, 17 June 2026, 20:00, until the Thursday, 18 June 2026, 06:00.

The Municipality said this upgrade is expected to strengthen the network to maintain a reliable service for residents.

eThekwini

uMngeni-uThukela announced it was able to remove the substance behind the earthy taste and smell in the water, known as 2-Methylisoborneol (2-MIB).

The water board said over 70% of this substance was removed from the water.

East London

An electricity outage at the Nahoon Water Treatment Works, affected parts of the Buffalo City Metro.

The Municipality said restoration of power is expected over the weekend and was delayed by inclement weather.

Amatola Water said it is monitoring the situation closely.

Johannesburg

Parts of Dainfern have no water, due to a burst pipe.

Johannesburg Water said an excavator had to be used to dug up the right depth to reach the leaking pipe.

Affected areas are Dainfern Estate, Ridge and Valley.

Critically low reservoirs on Saturday evening, were the Brixton 1 Tower, Diepsloot reservoir, Horizon Tower, Marlboro direct feeds, Linbro direct feeds, Morningside reservoir, Bryanston reservoir, and tower, Illovo reservoir and tower.
