One Italian national- Francesca Valentino (46) of Caserta, Italy, was killed and more than 1,700 visitors were forced to evacuate the Viva Dominicus Beach by Wyndham resort in Bayahibe, on Saturday, after a huge fire broke out.
Six people were treated onsite, while three were taken to medical facilities.
Hotel guests were transferred to other nearby establishments.
The beach is among the most popular destinations in the United States of America (US) and the Dominican Republic.
The area is popular for coral reefs, marine biodiversity and access to the East National Park.
