There were at least four wild fires reported by the uMtshezi Fire Protection Association, on Monday.

The biggest is the Lowlands fire, reported around lunchtime at 13:18.

The Association said its teams went to that fire.

“This quickly fuelled by a sudden wind change and steel hills became a cross district fire.”

The fire raged out of control, until back burns were conducted, to contain it.

The Association said “we commend our local farmers and WOF-Kishugu JV Team for their outstanding work and team effort into bringing this fire under control.

This season is deterating rapidly and if this is what we in for we need to be extremely cautious.”
