The Lesotho Highlands Development Authority is celebrating the first permanent concrete face slab panel, FS18, that was successfully cast, last week.
The authority said the panel is about 15 metres wide and 23 metres long.
The panel also marks the first successful application of the slipform system on the permanent dam structure.
The slipform system allows concrete to be placed progressively as the formwork moves up the inclined face of the dam, supporting an efficient and controlled approach to face slab construction.
With the trial phase successfully completed and the process refined, three slipform systems are planned for deployment, helping increase production and accelerate construction of the face slab.
