Putco (Pty) Ltd, part of the Larimer Group, is the latest company, to redirect services, due to ongoing protest action in parts of Meadowlands, Soweto.
Residents of Zone 1 and 3 took to the streets demanding electricity be restored, after a three day blackout.
Putco said “due to ongoing protests in Meadowlands, the area is currently closed. As a result, Putco buses from the following areas will be redirected: Emdeni, Dobsonville, Braamfischer, Silvertown, Ikwezi, Slovoville and Green Village.
Affected buses will take an alternative route using Main Reef to Highgate.
On Thursday afternoon, national electricity utility- Eskom, pulled out its technical teams, for safety reasons.
Eskom said in a notice to customers “our employees were threatened, and several roads were blocked, preventing access to critical sites, needed for power restoration.”
