The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Disaster Management Centre confirmed fatal incidents that occurred in the Alfred Duma Local Municipality, in Ladysmith yesterday.

The disaster team discovered a car under the bridge on N11, with three people confirmed dead.

It is suspected the car found, went missing on December 31, 2023, from Bergville. The authorities are investigations this matter further.

In another incident, an adult male from Ezakheni Township in Ladysmith drowned while swimming with his friends.

An adult male drowned, in Nhlanhleni’s Pholela river.

Eskom said this morning, its networks were damaged in the floods. This will affect areas in Pietermaritzburg, Margate, Kokstad, Newcastle, Ladysmith, Stanger, Zululand and Empangeni.
