The Nama Khoi Local Municipality has assured residents that drinking water in Buffelsriver is safe for consumption.
This follows a video on social media over the weekend, alleging water in the Buffelsriver has unknown substances.
Ian Swarts, Municipal Manager at Nama Khoi Local Municipality said water quality assessments show compliance with regulatory standards.
Swarts also said “the individual in the video, independently connected pipes to his household. This unauthorized connection, placed above the surface, was damaged due to prolonged exposure to varying weather conditions.
As a result, the substances observed in the water originates from the individual’s own plumbing.”
Swarts also encouraged residents to report concerns regarding water quality to the Municipality’s communications department.
